PDA IN THE NEWS: Shattering the silence on hidden disabilities in pharmacy

Last month, PDA Director Paul Day, spoke on the Pharmaceutical Journal podcast ‘The PJ Pod’. During the interview, Paul explained what discrimination pharmacists with hidden disabilities can be exposed to, the importance of speaking up when mistreatment takes place, and what employers need to do to accommodate them.

PDA receives positive member feedback from the March 2021 assessment candidates

The PDA would like to congratulate those who passed the March 2021 assessment. Members have been continuously supported throughout the assessment process in a number of ways including receiving advice and guidance and being invited to take part in free PDA member revision assessment programmes. The PDA also called on employers to support staff sitting the assessment.

PDA celebrates World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development

May 21 was declared to be the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development in December 2002 at the UN General Assembly. This came just a year after UNESCO’s adoption of the Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity.

Guide to: Discrimination and the pregnant employee

The PDA believes that everyone deserves to be treated fairly at work and to feel respected and valued. However, many people in the UK face prejudice and discrimination in the workplace even when facing pregnancy and maternity, one of nine protected characteristics covered by the Equality Act 2010.

PDA members are encouraged to take part in the GPhC EDI strategy consultation

The GPhC recently launched a consultation into its 5-year Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy for 2021-2026. The PDA encourages members to respond to the consultation directly and also asks that they complete a short survey so that their views can be incorporated into the PDA's submission.

PDA statement regarding pharmacist vaccination sessions in Glasgow and Greater Clyde

There have been reports of anomalies in the booking system for Covid-19 vaccination sessions in the Glasgow and Greater Clyde health board area, and allegations that some pharmacists may have used technology to secure multiple shifts ahead of others.
