Last Monday, the PDA hosted a free webinar for members sitting the GPhC assessment in November. Here, three PDA Reps and newly qualified pharmacists who had recently sat the assessment shared their experiences and gave useful tips and advice they would have wanted to hear in the run-up to their assessment.

PDA responds to apprenticeship consultations for health professionals

The PDA is responding to a series of consultations published on 4 November by the Institute of Apprenticeships & Technical Education (IFATE) which include proposals for pharmacy technicians, optometrists, and doctors. These IFATE consultations provide less than two weeks for interested parties to respond.

Irish trade union movement supports tripartite approach to decision making on future of pharmacy

The ICTU has adopted a proposal from the PDA that states that decision making by the government regarding future pharmacy policy and service design should be made through tripartite structures, with non-employer pharmacists represented by their trade union who are able to provide a more comprehensive, integrated point of view to complement that presented by employers.

Government announces outcome of consultation on mandatory Covid-19 vaccinations for NHS workers

Health Secretary, Sajid Javid has confirmed that the Government is to introduce Covid-19 vaccinations as a condition of employment for all frontline health and social care workers.

PDA launches Safer Pharmacies Charter commitment videos

As part of the long-running safer pharmacies campaign to improve safety and care for patients, the PDA has launched seven videos; one for each commitment of the Safer Pharmacies Charter. The PDA is also urging all pharmacists to take part in the 2021 Safer Pharmacies Survey which is based around the seven commitments.

GPhC announces closure date for the provisional register

Following the GPhC’s announcement that the provisional register will close on 31 January 2022, the PDA is reminding all provisional registrants that they must join the main register to continue to practise as a pharmacist after this date.
